GLENDERMOTT
The numbers will probably not matter much to the Rectory boys in a season where they won 8 of their 18 matches in the top flight and still ended up being relegated.
Without Stephen Smyth and Craig Averill it was fair to expect that the Waterside club might struggle a touch and an early loss to Creevedonnell didn't help.
They then pulled off a shock win over Bready but were unable to build on that as three more defeats followed. A crucial win against Fox Lodge turned their fortunes once more and Gordon Montgomery's men gave as good as they got from there on in.
A final tally of 8 wins wasn't enough to avoid the 8th place play-off however and the record books will show a 49-run defeat ending Glendermott's 10-year stint in Division 1 for the time being at least.
Roy Silva had an outstanding season despite the dropped catch that probably sealed his side's fate in the play-off, the Sri Lankan with over 1100 runs at an average of 48.4.
Skipper Montgomery came next making 434 at just under 19 a time with another club stalwart, Bob Robinson finishing with 432. Three others- Allan Johnston, Simon Killen and Charlie Elder all posted over 300 runs apiece.
Silva led the way with the ball as well, 37 wickets at a cost of 21 runs each while Elder rounded off a solid summer with 31 at under 20. Stephen McCloskey (26), Montgomery (24) and Stuart Cochrane (22) all chipped in decent efforts but in the end it wasn't to be enough.
Despite the setback, relegation won't be the end of the world at the Rectory and if he can keep the nucleus of the team together, “Goofer” will be confident of an early return to the new look Premier League.
