2012 will go as the season that The Hills finally clinched their 'Holy Grail' - The Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup when they comfortably defeated a below par Merrion at Castle Avenue.
Their league campaign ended in mid table winning and losing 5 of the ten league games they managed to complete in this most miserable of summers.
They were shocked by Senior Two side Pembroke in the semi final of the Leinster Cup, while they were ousted on run rate by Terenure in the Alan Murray Twenty20 competition.
The batting stats are in truth quite unremarkable and an analysis of them shows just how much they relied on their bowling to claim the showpiece trophy in Irish cricket. The club managed just 6 fifties and one century all season - Mike Baumgart's unbeaten 139 against Clontarf.
Baumgart was the only Milverton player to finish in the LCU overall top 20, scoring a total of 474 runs at 39.50. John Andrews was next with 267 at 20.54, just ahead of Naseer Shaukat who made 262 at 23.82.
Max Sorensen made 211 at 23.44, while South African wicket-keeper professional Nic Pretorious will have been disappointed with his meagre return of 185 at 13.21.
The Hills bowling is their much stronger suit and the figures bear this out.
Sorensen topped the wickets tally with 27 at just 12.37, while Shaukat was boosted by his displays in the Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup - he was the competition leading wicket taker with 12 - to finish with 25 at 15.08.
Sandwiched between the high profile pair was Tomas Murphy who had an excellent season as he claimed 26 wickets at just 13 apiece. The experienced Luke Clinton also performed well as he picked up 23 wickets each at 20.09, while Jonathan Andrews chipped in with 11 at 19.91.
How can The Hills follow up the success of 2012? I'm certain they will see the victory as just a begining and look to build on that in the coming years.
