DRUMMOND
Something of an in and out showing from Gordon Cooke's side who started and finished their campaign really well but were undone by a run of 2 months without a win in the middle.
A final appearance in the Sperrin Springs decider was the highlight of a solid if unspectacular campaign albeit the Roe Valley men finally finished joint second in the league behind Eglinton.
The figures are dominated by Steve Moore and Gordon Cooke, both men unsurprisingly featuring heavily in the batting and bowling stakes.
Moore top scored with 682 runs at an average of 42.6 while Cooke hit 636 at a staggering 106 a time. Nine “not out's” obviously impacted on those numbers but that is still a decent return from a player renowned primarily for his bowling.
Mark Averill with 412 runs was next in the list while there were useful contributions as well from Michael Lynch (254) and Philip Moon (215). The latter has proven a real find for Drummond and as well as his support runs he looks a very useful wicket-keeper in the making.
In terms of wickets taken, Cooke (31) and Moore (30) had to be content with second and third respectively behind Damien Carlin who claimed 32 victims- those three dominating with the ball.
Former Ireland International Cooke appeared to relinquish the skipper's armband during the season and rumour has it that he has agreed to join his brother at Sandel Lodge next season.
As always time will tell if that is the case however he would be a major loss to Drummond should that prove to be the case.
