It's been another successful season for Lurgan both on and off the field as they put the foundations in place for a successful cricket club from the bottom as well as the top - something sadly lacking in too many clubs throughout Ireland.
Still it's senior level which makes the headlines and that's where this review concentrates. They won 14 of their 18 league games to win Senior One for the second year in succession, indeed their third title in four years, overcoming a blip in early August when they had a weekend to forget as they lost to Downpatrick and Woodvale.
There's no doubt that their success was due in no small part to their enigmatic overseas professional, the talented and ever consistent Niranjan Godbole who enjoyed the sort of successful campaign that club administrators and players only dream of when they go scouting during the off season.
He was by some considerable distance the leading run scorer in the division with a mammoth 1099 runs at a healthy average of 73.27. He scored six of the 13 fifties recorded by the Mid-Ulster side, and three of their four hundreds.
The other century was scored by teenager James McCollum who showed the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree as he made 387 runs at 29.77, also scoring one fifty for good measure.
Others worthy of a mention are Stephen Johnston with 346 at 18.21, Stephen Chambers 333 at 23.79 (highest score 90), and Peter Haire whose 199 runs came in just five innings at an average of 39.80, making two fifties, and a highest score of 86.
In the bowling stakes Godbole was again very much to the fore leading the way with 32 wickets at 15.88, while the veteran slow bowler Paul Stafford enjoyed a renaissance as he bamboozled opposing batsmen to secure 26 wickets at just 11.50.
The bowling showed more depth than the batting with the gap between Godbole and the rest much narrower. In addition to the aforementioned Stafford, Stephen Anderson and Cameron Grieve each picked up 20 wickets at 18.80 and 27.80 respectively.
John Guy impressed with 19 at 21.32, while Andrew Bingham's haul of 14 came at just 8.57 apiece. Mark Stinson was the other bowler to reach double figures - his 11 costing 27 each.
There's no doubt 2013 will be an all together much different ball game - it should be remembered that the bulk of this Lurgan side failed to win a Premier league game when they finished bottom of the table back in 2010. It was Albert Einstein who said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results - Lurgan, take note for 2013!
