The Dutch tourists maintained their unbeaten run with another victory on Sunday, beating a UAE Development XI by 56 runs in a 50-over match at the ICC Global Cricket Academy.
Again batting first after Peter Borren won the toss, the Dutch XI were given a great start with a 94-run opening partnership between Michael Swart and Stephan Myburgh. Swart s departure for 39 was followed by a middle-order collapse in which the visitors slumped to 147 for five, with James Gruijters making 3, Wesley Barresi failing to score, and Daan van Bunge facing 33 deliveries for 4.
Myburgh, however, was in typically aggressive mood, and his 89 came from 94 deliveries and contained one six and 13 fours.
After he was dismissed Borren and Tom de Grooth each contributed 22, but the total was hoisted to an eventual 264 all out by a characteristic knock from Mudassar Bukhari, who smacked three fours and three sixes in making a 33-ball 50 before the innings closed on the penultimate delivery of the scheduled 50 overs.
Mohammad Nasir was the principal wicket-taker for the Emiratis with five for 35 in his ten-over spell.
Paul van Meekeren, one of the young Dutch players benefiting from a first tour with the national squad, struck twice when the home side replied, reducing them to 6 for two. Opener Faizan Asif responded with a rapid-fire 37 (from 29 deliveries with seven fours and a six), but despite the Development XI also being strengthened by the inclusion of the experienced Saqib Ali, they were soon in considerable trouble at 54 for five.
Rohan Mustafa again restored their fortunes with a patient 48 before he was bowled by Van Meekeren, and Nasir Aziz assisted him in adding 109 for the sixth wicket. Nasir was eventually caught by Pieter Seelaar off Borrens bowling for a defiant 58, but it was Bukhari who returned to claim four for 32 as the Emiratis were all out for 205.
Van Meekeren finished with three for 21 and Borren two for 19.
