Former Scotland all-rounder Dougie Brown is in the running to land the top coaching job at Warwickshire.
Brown, currently assistant to Bears No1 Ashley Giles, wants the Director of Cricket role when Giles leaves to become Englands one-day coach next month.
The 43 year-old Scot said: I will definitely be putting my hat in the ring.
I have a bit of experience and it is a help that I have worked in this environment for a long time and understand what it entails and the dynamic of the team.
Brown, who played for the Bears for more than twenty years, joined the Edgbaston countys coaching staff four years ago.
The former Clackmannan player, who earned 35 caps for Scotland, also played nine ODIs for England. Brown added: Following Ashley will be tough it will be a big challenge for whoever takes over.
I am sure there will be a number of strong candidates.
Brown, who has also coached the Namibian national team, became one of the first inductees into the Cricket Scotland Hall of Fame a year ago.
