Kelburne Cricket Club have pulled off a sensational signing coup by recruiting the services of Scotland ace Qasim Sheikh for the 2013 season.
The 28-year-old left-handed batsman arrives at Whitehaugh with an impressive pedigree, having represented Scotland on the international scene at all age levels.
Former Clydesdale ace Sheikh made his senior Scots debut during an ICC Intercontinental Cup match with the Netherlands in 2005 and also played with distinction for the Under-19s during the 2002 World Cup in New Zealand.
Three years ago, he became the first Scottish-born cricketer to score a first-class century in Pakistan, where he played for the Customs team through the winter months.
Speaking to the Paisley Daily Express Sheikh said he is now thrilled to have signed for “a passionate club” such as Kelburne.
He added: “It’s great to be back in Scotland. “I’m looking forward to getting the promotion challenge under way in 2013.”
A Kelburne spokesman added: “Qasim has represented Scotland at all age levels and has experience of playing cricket all over the world. “He will be a fantastic addition to the club.”
