33 year old Irish international Albert van der Merwe has been appointed captain at YMCA for the 2013 season.

YMCA won the Alan Murray T20 competition last season and are keen to bring more silverware to the club in the coming year.

Van Der Merwe is looking forward to taking on the captaincy saying:"I'm delighted to have been given the responsibility to take the reins. It's a massive honour to step into the shoes of some big names who have been at the helm.

"We will continue to develop and blood some of our very talented youngsters who have come through the YMCA youth programme."
