- Players out - Tom Fisher (Terenure)
It's been all chnage at Railway Union with five players joining the senior ranks, most of whom as a result of the senior demise of Old Belvedere. The club suffered a big blow last week though with the loss of Tom Fisher to Terenure and his loss leaves a big gap in their side.
Irish international Kevin O'Brien dons the skipper armband once again, and is relishing the challenge that the new season brings: "I'm really looking forward to captaining the side once again. We have acquired some young players who have real ability and potential. I will be trying my best to bring along these young guys as well as being competitive and trying to win competitions.
"Losing Tom Fisher in the last week or so, is a big loss, but it will give Josh Uddin a great chance to open the batting in senior cricket for the whole season. Josh has been training hard all winter and we have done some good work on his game. He is one to watch this year.
"Another player to keep an eye on is Jay Singh, who is a left arm swing bowler and has worked hard on his fitness and action all winter. He played a few games last year, getting 4/30 against Leinster.
"I think the lack of silverware last season has made the guys even more hungry and committed to this year. We still have majority of the squad from last year and with some added youth we have good depth - something we lacked in last few years."
That depth coud well see Railway in the hunt for honours once again, especially if the youngsters and the new additions settle in quickly.
