The CricketEurope team have been discussing the best performances in each of the respective Unions after an action packed opening weekend and came up with our choices for the best teams in each region.

Leading the way in Leinster is Irish and Merrion all-rounder John Anderson who scored the first century in the top flight.

His fellow Leinster Lightning team mates Tyrone Kane, Eddie Richardson and Andrew Balbirnie are also included.

Nic Pretorius took full advantage of his promotion up the order with a half century and a superb keeping display as The Hills beat Railway Union.

Etesham Ahmed's move from YMCA to Terenure did him no harm as he smashed an incredible 8 sixes and 8 fours to earn a deserved place in the team.

We've also included another Division Two player in the form of Amir Anwar whose bright start to the season continued with a fine all-round display as the students shocked Malahide.

The Leinster 'Team of the Week' is as follows:

  1. John Anderson (captain) (Merrion)
  2. Reinhardt Strydom (YMCA)
  3. Andrew Balbirnie (Pembroke)
  4. Etesham Ahmed (Terenure)
  5. Nic Pretorius (w/k) (The Hills)
  6. Tyrone Kane (Merrion)
  7. Eddie Richardson (North County)
  8. Albert van der Merwe (YMCA)
  9. Amir Anwar (Dublin University)
  10. Yaqoob Ali (YMCA)
  11. Joe Morrissey (Clontarf)
