About the ICC Intercontinental Cup
The ICC Intercontinental Cup began in 2004 and is the premier first-class tournament for Associate and Affiliate Members. The current competition will take place from 2011-2013 and is an an eight-team, round-robin tournament comprising four-day matches between Afghanistan, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia and United Arab Emirates. The top two teams will contest the Final. Scotland won the first Intercontinental Cup in 2004, beating Canada in the final, after which Ireland was victorious on hree successive occasions, beating Kenya in the 2005 decider, Canada in the 2006-07 final and Namibia in 2007-08. In 2009-10 Afghanistan won the competition, defeating Scotland in the Final. For the 2011-2013 competition there is a total of US$254,000 in prize money on offer, with US$100,000 going to the winners and US$40,000 to the runners-up. The third and fourth place teams will receive US$20,000 and US$10,000 respectively while an outright win by any team during the round-robin stage earns US$3,000 per match. |
