Civil Service North of Ireland Cricket Club (CSNI) has appointed Regan West as their new 1st XI team coach.

Regan's appointment sees the third big announcement for the club since the end of the 2014 season with Andrew Cowden appointed club captain and Mansoor Amjad signing as the club professional as the club looks to build on last years double cup winning success.

Talking about his new role, Regan said: "I am very excited about undertaking this new role as coach and would like to thank the club for the opportunity to contribute in this way. There were a number of big positives to come out of our performances last season, and I look forward to working with the talented and motivated group of players we have at the club. As a group, we have work to do during pre-season to ensure we are ready to perform come our first game in April, however with Andrew stepping up as Captain, the signing of our new club professional, and the rest of the squad feeling prepared and ready to go, it's all very positive, and I'm looking forward to another enjoyable and successful season".

Ex-Ireland international, Regan, who joined the club at the end of 2007, takes up his role as 1st XI coach as the club continues to make changes before the start of the 2015 season. All rounder Regan has 71 caps for CSNI scoring 1,838 runs at an average of 36.04 and has taken 56 wickets with a strike rate of 18.23.

Club Captain, Andrew Cowden, said: "I am absolutely delighted that Regan has accepted to become CSNI's inaugural 1st XI Squad Coach. When we decided the need for this role we knew straight away we didn't have to look too far for the best candidate. I look forward to learning from Regan and forming a very successful partnership with him. During my meetings to date, with Regan, his enthusiasm, energy and desire to succeed is very very evident. Regan is very much respected in the changing room and brings, not only, a wealth of cricketing knowledge and international experience, but also, a fierce winning mentality which I love. I am confident that the 1st XI squad will continue to flourish with Regan's coaching."

Regan will be looking to have the players in top condition when CSNI start their season with an appetising fixture against CIYMS on the 25 April at Stormont.

Club Chairman, Ivan McMinn, said: "Regan's experience in this new role will be greatly welcomed. In addition to his coaching competencies, Regan brings with him the respect of everyone at the Club whether young and old. His commitment to playing this summer is another added bonus and in all of these guises, Regan will be a fantastic support to Andrew Cowden and to our new pro Mansoor Amjad as we all look forward with confidence to the 2015 season."
