ANDREW VINCENT became the second Clontarf batsman to score a century for Ireland Under 15s as they continued their winning streak in their bid to retain the ICC European Under 15 Championships in Rugby.
Vincent followed club mate's Sean Currie heroics yesterday with a magnificent 107 as Ireland recovered from a precarious 28 for 4 to beat Denmark by 98 runs to claim their third win of the tournament.
He struck 13 boundaries in his 107, which came from only 105 deliveries, sharing a stand of 108 for the 5th wicket with skipper Harry Tector.
Tector scored exactly 50, which included six boundaries. Vincent also found a willing partner in John Glass who struck four boundaries in an entertaining 31 from just 29 balls.
Their sixth wicket partnership added 80 in just 63 balls, allowing the Irish to post 247 for 8 in their 50 overs.
Mads Henriksen (4-48) did the early damage with the ball for the Danes before the Irish salvage operation.
In reply, three wickets apiece for Varun Chopra (3-25) and Ian Anders (3-37) helped reduce the Danish innings to 75 for 7.
Skipper Oliver Damgaard Hald smashed an unbeaten 53 from just 51 balls (4 fours, 2 sixes) dominating an 8th wicket stand of 65 with Ali Ul-Hassan (11), but it was all about damage limitation for the Danes at that stage.
Denmark were eventually all out for 149, leaving the Irish convincing 98 run winners.
Aaron Cawley (2-12) and Stephen Keane (1-10) were the other successful bowlers for Ireland.
In the other matches, Guernsey's Dan Le Messurier scored 61 and took 5 for 27 as his side won the Channel Island derby against Jersey by 11 runs, while Scotland captain Callum Gardner's 124 helped his team to an 117 run win over The Netherlands.
Thursday is a rest day for the tournament, while the Irish play Guernsey on Friday and complete their games when they take on Scotland on Saturday.
