After September's washouts between the Netherlands and Scotland, the World Cricket League Championship resumed in Windhoek today as Namibia played host to Kenya.

On a warm and sunny day in the Namibian capital, rain wasn't going to be a problem. Kenyan captain Hiren Varaiya won the toss and chose to bat first. Openers Dhiren Gondaria and Alex Obanda put on 44, followed by Obanda and Irfan Karim putting on 58 before Obanda was out for 52.

Karim followed soon afterwards, but an innings of 80 from 58 balls by Rakep Patel got Kenya back on track. They managed to reach 287-7 from their 50 overs.

Namibia lost Gerrie Snyman early on in their reply, but fellow opener Stephan Baard was batting superbly. As long as he was in, you felt Namibia were going to win the game. He'd scored 132 from 106 balls when he was finally out in the 42nd over with the score on 221-6.

Namibia bat a long way down, and would have been backing on their tail to score the 67 required from 8.4 overs. They got close too, with JJ Smit scoring 22 from 15 balls, but still needed 29 from 4 overs when he was out from the last ball of the 46th over. Bernard Scholtz and Christiaan Snyman got them close, but not close enough as Snyman fell with one over still to go.

Kenya had won the match by 11 runs, and the sides will meet again at the same venue on Sunday.
