There was a huge blow for the women's game with the news that the Cricket Ireland plan to bring six overseas coaches has been shelved for the forthcoming season at least.
It's thought the current financial struggles at Cricket Ireland has meant the ground-breaking move to have six Australian player-coaches for the 2016 campaign has been put back for one season at least.
It was envisaged that the six player-coaches would add quality and experience to a revamped and improved Super 3 Series, which showed encouraging signs in its first season despite a 'soft launch'.
Despite the severe blow, the Super 3 series will go ahead with their plan to have more fixtures in 2016, building on their inaugural campaign.
