Currently unbested title-holders Dosti-United travel to Rotterdam to take on VOC at Hazelaarweg, and given the record-smashing drubbing they meted out in their last encounter anything but an emphatic win for the Amsterdammers would be a surpirse. Though newly-arrived VOC coach Jeandre Jumat found some reward with ball in hand against VRA last week, it's hard to see bottom-placed VOC spoiling Dosti's ongoing parade.
Tougher to call is ACC versus Excelsior '20 at het Loopveld, with both sides coming off heavy losses to the champions-presumptive last weekend. Excelsior have nonetheless looked the more dangerous of the two sides thus far, running Quick Haag close and having Dosti well contained in their first abortive encounter. With both sides having looked to their overseas players for stabilty, with the rest performing sporadically aroud them, the match at least looks ripe for a decisive individual intervention.
Meanwhile Quick Haag, even at this early stage, are looking odds-on to make a fourth consecutive Toplasse final, and are heavily favoured to stay on course when they travel to Harga to take on Hermes. Though Hermes young line-up have put in occasionally eye-catching individual performances, they continue to look out of their depth and dependent of Stephan Myburgh battering them into contention. Quick, conversely, have dropped just one game so far, byt the narrowest of margins to top-placed Dosti, with nearly the entire firsst team having performances to boast of.
Though the same cannot necessarily be said of VRA, they nonetheless head to de Diepput to take on HCC having broken their losing streak and with plenty to prove. Though HCC look to have found feet after a tough start to the season, skipper Mark Jonkman in especially fine form with the ball, the batting line-up remains fragile should Vandiar go cheaply, especially with talisman Tom de Grooth rather out of form. Ultimately the game may come down to whether Vandiar or Szwarczynski go cheaply, with little to choose between the two sides.
Finally Excelsior and Hermes have wasted no time in rescheduling the Schiedam Derby after rain put a stop to proceedings in round six, Excelsior having made 201 largely off the back of an unbeaten century from Lorenzo Ingram. Despite a solid showing from Hermes' young attack on that occasion, much of the analysis of a fortnight past holds more-or-less true. Barring a star-turn from Stephan Myburgh, Excelsior are solid favourites.
