GARY Wilson is set to make his debut for Northern Knights in the inter-provincial Championship game against North West Warriors at The Lawn, starting on Monday.
The out-of-favour Surrey professional is just awaiting clearance from Cricket Ireland but has been selected for the team, a week ahead of Ireland's two-match one-day international series against Pakistan.
The Knights completed their Twenty20 fixture list last night at Strabane Park but their inexperienced line-up was no match for an almost full strength North West Warriors, who won by 52 runs.
The game marked the return to inter-pro action of Craig Young, after injury, and Stuart Thompson after his time-out.
Young bowled four overs for 22 runs, without taking a wicket, and Thompson looked better with the bat than the ball although he did take two wickets in two balls. Earlier he had scored 39 off 32 balls but was upstaged by Brigade's Ryan Hunter, who hit 79 off 51 with eight fours and four sixes. Craig Lewis, with 18 off 16 balls, was the best of the Knights debutants.
Scores: Warriors 192-4 (R Hunter 79, S Thompson 39, D Hyatt 27, A McBrine 22 not out; Nik Smith 2-25)
Knights 140-6 (S Getkate 30, R McKinley 20 not out, Nik Smith 20; J Robinson 2-15, D Scanlon 2-22, S Thompson 2-24). Warriors won by 52 runs
