A wonderful double century by teenager Adam Dennison has left the Northern Knights in a near impregnable position after the opening day of their interpro against the North West Warriors.
Dennison's brilliant innings paved the way for the Knights to pile up a formidable 400 before reducing the visitors to 38 for four by the close with Phil Eaglestone and Robert McKinley taking two wickets each.
Having top-scored on his home ground as the NCU team won Sunday's one-day game between these sides at The Lawn, Waringstown's Dennison simply carried on in Comber.
The hot prospect's first hundred runs took 171 balls but he only needed a further 70 deliveries to double up.
Knights skipper James Shannon won the important toss and his openers plundered 10 runs from the first over, bowled by Ireland paceman Craig Young.
Stuart Thompson ended a half-century stand by bowling Nikolai Smith but Shannon joined Dennison and took the score to 114 for no further loss by the lunch interval.
Young had a big leg before appeal against guesting Surrey star Gary Wilson.
