IBIZA CRICKET CLUB ANNUAL AWARDS

Ibiza Cricket Club's Annual Award and Christmas Dinner was held on Saturday evening, the dinner was held at The Gallery Restaurant in Santa Eularia and a good evening was enjoyed by all, with special thanks to Miles and his hard working and friendly staff for making everybody so welcome and serving up a wonderful 3 course meal, preceded by some very hot mulled wine; ideal for what was quite a cold night!

After dinner, speeches were made, with Chairman Martin Makepeace thanking everybody for attending, as well as giving special thanks to Lyn Carpenter as Treasurer and “Tennis” Mike Lynch as Scorer, for their very important contributions to the club during the season. He then called on Jeremy Parmenter, as Club Captain, to offer his comments on the season as a whole and to announce the Award winners - he, in turn, invited Jane Ireland to present the Awards, as follows:

Batsman of the Year – Martin Cooper for his 320 runs scored, including a maiden unbeaten century;

Bowler of the Year – Ryan Way, for his 20 wickets taken, as well as his average of only 14.5 runs per wicket taken:

Player's Player of the Year – Paul Ambrose for his positive attitude and influence, his willingness to learn whilst being coached and his general demeanour and input;

The Adrian Ireland Memorial Trophy for the Captain's Player of the Year – Robin Parmenter, for his all-rounder's ability, as proven by his 84 runs as a batsman, 14 wickets as a bowler and his consistency throughout the season, with an economy rate of only 4.5 runs per over (74 overs) and his tremendous enthusiasm and loyalty to the Club.

Special mention was made of a newcomer to the Club, namely Dan Brennan, who only joined at the beginning of the season and made a wonderful addition, with his bowling, batting and fielding abilities and, as a youngster, being under 35 (!), has a great future with the Club.
