Bready claimed their second senior trophy of the season on Sunday when proving far too strong for struggling Eglinton in the Faughan Valley cup decider at Beechgrove.

The sides went into the game in vastly contrasting form and right from the start the senior cup winners were in control. Batting first, none of the Villagers' top five made double figures and the bottom fared little better, but 20 in the middle from Neal Stewart put a modicum of respectability on the innings.

Trevor Hamilton's 3 for 7 was the pick of an excellent Bready attack and won the skipper the man-of-the-match award while there was plenty of support from Ian Young (3 for 14), Mark Fleming (2 for 16) and David Scanlon (2 for 18). Eglinton struggled manfully for 16 overs but in the end they left a target of just 66 for the Magheramason men and the outcome was never in doubt after that.

Bready's reply was halted temporarily when Richard Wylie trapped Bryan Scanlon leg before with the score on 25 to prevent a second consecutive 10-wicket reverse for Andy Christie's side but David Rankin with an unbeaten 29 and Steven Clarke (19 not out) ensured that there was no further damage in a commanding 9-wicket verdict.
