Waringstown left-arm spinner Gary Kidd has made himself unavailable for the forthcoming interprovincial season.
The 28 year-old played the last of his 22 internationals for Ireland over four years ago, against the West Indies in April 2010.
Kidd made just the one appearance for the Northern Knights last season, dismissing John Anderson as he took 1 for 27 in their two wicket loss to Leinster Lightning.
Kidd was named in the Northern Knights squad to play Ireland Under 19's this Sunday at Bangor but withdrew citing personal reasons and work commitments.
Also missing is Kidd's team-mate Phil Eaglestone, who is unavailable due to work commitments for the Knights' opening fixture at Coleraine on May26th, and the selectors wanted to use the opportunity to look at other bowling options.
Shane Getkate was one possible replacement, but he is playing in England this week for MCC Young Cricketers and Sunbury CC, and the cost of flights were deemed prohibitive.
Muckamore skipper Neil Gill has been drafted in alongside Instonians left-arm spinner Zac Rushe for Sunday.
There's one late change to the Irish teenagers to face the Knights - Andrew Forbes comes in for the injured Rory Anders.
