Scotland finished their tour of Australia and New Zealand with a match against Otago at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln.

Scotland won the toss and decided to field first. Otago captain and New Zealand international Aaron Redmond opened with Michael Bracewell and the pair set the tone for the innings with an opening stand of 138 which came at just under a run a ball.

Redmond eventually departed for 71 which had come from 61 balls caught by Goudie off the bowling of Michael Leask.

Leask struck again twelve runs later clean bowling Bracewell for 65 and when Ryder was snapped up by Mommsen off the bowling of Machan for only nine Otago had reached 161 for 3 from half their allocated overs.

Fifties however from Robertson and De Boorder enabled Otago to reach 361 before they were all out in the forty ninth over.

Machan with 3 for 51 and Leask with 3 for 58 were the pick of the seven Scottish bowlers used.

Scotland with Kyle Coetzer promoted once again to open and Matthew Cross started in confident fashion reaching sixty in the seventh over before de Boorder picked up the first of three catches behind the stumps to dismiss Cross for 27.

Gardiner and Coleman departed without really troubling the scorers both falling to Tipene Friday to leave Scotland on 76 for 3.

It was left to Coetzer and Richie Berrington to repair the early damage with a stand of 110 before Berrington was caught by Wells for 54.

Coetzer and Mommsen then put on 54 for the fifth wicket in 43 balls as the pair looked to accelerate the scoring before Mommsen fell to another de Boorder catch.

Coetzer continued to dominate the Scottish innings as other wickets fell around him reaching a well-deserved century before becoming the ninth wicket to fall with the score on 287.

He had made 128 from 121 balls which was the highest score by a Scottish batsman on the tour.

Shortly thereafter Scotland lost their final wicket to go down by 67 runs.

Left arm orthodox spinner Nick Beard with 4 for 54 was the pick of the Otago attack with Friday also starring with the ball taking 3 for 30.

The Otago bowlers were well backed up in the field with keeper Derek de Boorder finishing with three catches and three stumpings .
