There's been a mixture of T20 and Championship action over in England with Paul Stirling playing a starring role as Middlesex crushed Kent in a T20 game.

Stirling, like a number of his Irish colleagues hasn't been seen in Championship action, but is still considered a leading light in the white ball game.

The Carrickfergus man was at his pugnacious best, smashing 7 sixes and 6 fours in his 90 from just 50 balls.

He shared a century stand with Eoin Morgan who blasted 54 from only 27 balls ( 4fours, 3 sixes) and for good measure took 1 for 22 as Middlesex won by 115 runs.

The brothers O'Brien have been in fine fettle for the Foxes of Leicestershire with Kevin taking 2 for 20 and hitting an unbeaten 48 in their 8 wicket win against Durham.

One of O'Brien's victims was Scotland international Calum MacLeod and the pair could come face-to-face in the three match T20I series at Bready next month.

Niall was to the fore in their win over Derbyshire taking three catches and scoring an unbeaten 47 in the seven wicket win. Kevin had earlier taken a wicket and hit 31.

Niall took six catches including five in an innings in Leicestershire's 244 run loss to Lancashire last week.

William Porterfield hit 27 as Warwickshire were 18 run winners over Worcestershire.

The Ireland skipper didn't feature in the Bears side which lost a thriller by one wicket against Ed Joyce's Sussex.

Joyce made 9 and 13with Boyd Rankin taking 3 for 32.

Gary Wilson continues to be a pivotal player for Surrey and he made a crucial 42 and took three catches in their narrow three wicket win against Kent which takes them to second place in the Division Two table, just behind leaders Lancashire.
