Anyone know the squad for World T20's? Would be good to see Tendo, Tom Cooper and Nannes back in the side

An excellent article by Bertus particularly his highlighting of the fact that the next generation also failed to qualify for their world cup (which is currently taking place in the Emirates).

Youth development has to be given a higher priority and I am happy to see that the start has been made by the employment of the two development officers, the fruits of which are already being seen in places like Nijmegen which is starting its youth training for the first time in many many years and in general things are looking up. Perhaps a change in some of the coaching staff at the Dutch Lions level might be needed to ensure that more kids stay with cricket instead of moving on to other sports (or to none at all which is far worse but thats another discussion altogether).

Jeroen Smits quite rightly stood down but I feel that given the results and lack of development during his tenure, Roland Lefebvre should also resign or be fired as he is obviously failing as the "Cricket Performance Manager"of the KNCB. Lets face it, the writing was on the wall for quite a while with the poor performances historically in the ICC 4 day competition, and in the qualifying stages of the Pepsi league. Sure the two lost games against Scotland came at a time when the significance of the league was not known, but there was no excuse to lose 2 games to them when they were in a rebuilding stage, and the talk about the rain affected game against Canada being pivotal is also rubbish given the fact that Canada were cruising to victory in the game anyway. Very little sign of performance management in any of that, and the time has come to stop letting people rest on their past performances as players in the national side to run the game. Lets face it, looking at football managers in England, Spain, Italy etc, how many of them had prolonged periods in their national side as players?

An interesting article by Bertus with which I, to a certain extent, agree with... I would like to share my thoughts on this matter in due course. What we need now though is a long term vision and plan. Something that has eluded the Dutch cricketing organisation, due to myopic and narrow minded behaviour.

Good interview with our Chairman of the KNCB, I could't agree more that the current 'crisis' invites opportunities for our homegrown players to get selected in the Dutch squad! It is youth youth youth that should be our focus now, especialy also the U18 group. Far to little junior players stay to become senior players, let's try to change that! How? Perhaps by shortening the game a little? More 20/20? I don't know, but clubs with KNCb together will find the best solution.

So with the Netherlands consigned to the international wilderness for AT LEAST four years, does the future lie in a Danish style decline to a distant memory of a once hopeful European cricket outpost? Will this website continue to report on and support Dutch cricket?
