Congrats to Jim Bennett, sounds like a well deserved award.
Oh, and the same to Brian Walsh, President Elect too. Fine, I was hoping that step to give the position to a lady might have been taken, but never mind. Hopefully, next year!

Delighted to see Jim Bennett recognised for his work in Irish cricket. Knowledgeable and passionate about his sport and always a warm greeting no matter where you meet him. Many congratulations, Jim.

Many congratulations to Jim Bennett 'the last volunteer' on his ICC lifetime achievement award.
For longer than most people would know Jim was to be found at any and every youth event in Ireland, no journey was too long, no start too early nor any return home too late.
A shrewd judge of a player and a masterful chair of the youth committee he steered a course through the usual provincial interests when they appeared.
No one deserves it more.

"The Cricket Ireland plan recognises clubs as the hub of the sport and places them at the centre of focus for grass-roots development, helping them benefit from the record number of participants at school and youth level currently enjoying the game. We are launching a club fund to assist the clubs with grants for equipment and facilities in addition to the practical support we provide already."
The fund will initially have 50,000 Euros.
Lost more money!

Great news on the $500k (€440k/£345k) for ODIs, does anyone know what that could pay for (and if any already 'spent' in advance with this years games)?

After reading many news articles on Dockrell since the announcement that he has been released by Somerset,I guess following is his present situation(If i am not right in anyway, please correct me).
He is now a B grade(i.e. part time) contracted player of Cricket Ireland and dont have any non-cricket job.But he is pursuing college education and is thus a student.
So what actually made CI not give him full time(i.e. A grade)contract this year inspite of being released by Somerset? Is it that he refused to accept full time contract of CI so as to focus on studies?Or is it that financial troubles made CI not offer him full time contract?I guess actual reason is the former one.But i think Stuart Thompson and Peter Chase finished studies in 2014 and 2015 respectively.Still CI gave them full time contracts in those years.
