Clashes at the top of the table have often before ended in a one-sided affair. But this was not the case when Glostrup faced Skanderborg at home in bright sunshine Saturday. Although both were undefeated Glostrup were favorites to win, but Skanderborg made sure they had to work hard in a match that swung from one side to the other.

Glostrup put Skanderborg into bat which suited the Jutlanders as they always prefer to bat first. Skanderborg got off to a good start as Glostrup's Henrik Hansen and David Borchersen failed to put any mark on the batsmen. Lejf Slebsager, promoted up the batting order, scored freely but after the first bowling change he cut Glostrup's captain Peter Poulsen straight to point. His partner followed soon after mistiming a hook. Lars Hedegaard was soon in and he produced the score (70) that held the innings together, supported by the other top order batsmen. His innings of 70 was scored off 69 balls and was played with common sense, although he was put down twice by Glostrup. Glostrups fielding was otherwise top order as 8 batsmen were caught in the field. After Lars was caught on the boundary going for runs in the final overs it was left to the last wicket partnership to have a flutter with 2 sixes scored off the final two balls by Lars Thorsen. This left 220 on the board after 50 overs. Not a winning total on a fast outfiled but a defenable one.

And Skanderborg got off to a great start when in-form Martin Jensen was caught behind without scoring. Glostrup's Aftab Ahmed, however, restored some order with some hard hitting but when he was caught for 32 and Anders Rasmussen was out for a duck Glostrup were in trouble at 48 for 4. Rasmus Kofoed was then run out standing out of his crease during a lbw appeal and Kasper Poulsen didn't hang round much either and Glostrup were suddenly 78 for six. Lars Hedegaard who was applying pressure after 2 wickets was taken off and suddenly Glostrup's captain Peter Poulsen and Henrik Hansen were gradually able to get on top as none of the other bowlers made any impression. These two added 106 for the seventh wicket and Glostrup were in the driving seat. Then Hansen was trapped lbw and Skanderborg thought they could wipe up the tail but keeper Martin Jeppesen had none of that and Glostrup passed Skanderborg's total with overs to spare winning by seven wickets.

Elsewhere Esbjerg entertained Herning. Esbjerg had the week before bowled AB out for less than 50 in damp conditions and nobody would believe that Esbjerg could do the same to Herning in bright sunshine but they did. Herning were skittled out for 43. Esbjerg's playing chairman Jean Kristensen siad "We just caught everthing. Our fielding was impeccable" Herning are after a brighter start to the season now fighting for survival.

After losing to Glostrup on the Saturday Skanderborg made sure it was just a slip up by conforably winning over AB by nine wickets on the Sunday. Carsten pedersen having a good day at 75 not out.

The weekend produced a shock in the first division as promotion hunters Alberslund lost to Svanholm's second XI. Svanholm who occupied bottom spot were reinforced by Soren Vestergaard playing his first match after injury and with his 127 not out put his mark on the match with fellow veteran Alan From scoring 75 not out as Svanholm chased down Albertlund's 245. KB secured almost certain promotion by beating Ishøj by six wickets while promoted Kolding made sure of thier 1st. division status by scoring 350 against Fredericia.

The coming week is occupied by MCC's visit to Copenhagen with 2 matches against Denmark on Wednesday and Thursday but next weekend is the Danish twenty/20 finals where Esbjerg, Skanderborg, Glostrup and Svanholm will fight it out.
