A fortnight ago Glostrup led the Danish league by two matches over rivals Skanderborg. The two teams met again in Skanderborg and Glostrup lost heavily. The day after Glostrup only managed to beat bottom side Herning by the skin of their teeth. A wake up call perhaps. It helped, as the following weekend Glostrup beat Norrebro without too much pressure. However Glostrup met the holders Svanholm, in the final match, a repeat of last year's playoff final and as Skanderborg had won their matches Glostrup had to win to become champions or else another play off. History repeated itself again as Glostrup have been in this situation several times before. Svanholm were bowled out for 169, a score that shouldn't have caused Glostrup too much trouble. However it was obvious the nerves were beginning to show as wickets fell and only captain Peter Paulsen showed any determination with 50* but he ran out of partners as Glostrup succumbed at 143 all out. So another playoff final to be held at Glostrup on Saturday against Skanderborg. Glostrup don't win these matches but there's always a first time. Skanderborg are certain of silver medals after only one season coming back from the first division while Svanholm won bronze, making it 36 years on the trot receiving a medal.

But there was also drama at the bottom of the table. Herning were finally sent back to the first division after a 10 wicket defeat to Skanderborg while AB and Husum fought it out for the second last place, which means a play-off match against second place in the first division - Albertslund. When Husum where bowled out for 99 by Esbjerg everyone were certain Husum would get the extra game, having the poorest bowling attack in the division. But on this day the Esbjerg batsmen, bar captain Peer Jensen, lost their vision and created a procession to and fro the pavilion. The scoreboard read 66 when the last wicket fell. Ah yes said the spectator the match was fixed but if you heard Peer Jensen after the match giving his players the worst known ticking off, one knew there was no foul play. Husum saved themselves as AB could not perform against Norrebro where veteran Aftab Ahmed hit a fluent 59* in their 3 wicket victory. So AB will play on Saturday against Albertslund for a place in next years Elitedivision. KB won the 1st division outright and will return to the top league after only one season's absence. Aalborg and Koge couldn't avoid the bottoms spots. Their replacements have not yet been found.
