Fiji's chances of reaching Division Three of the World Cricket League have suffered a major blow with the news that their best player, Neil Maxwell, has torn his knee ligaments and could be out for up to six months - meaning that he could also miss Division Three in Argentina should Fiji get there.

Maxwell, who played for Australia A and Under-19s in addition to a long first-class career that saw stints with New South Wales, Victoria and Canterbury, suffered the injury during training with his Australian club.

He was by a long way the most experienced player due to take part in the tournament in Dar-es-Salaam, and he will be sorely missed by Fiji, who will struggle to get back into Division Three without him.
