The second day of play in Division One of the Americas Championship in Fort Lauderdale, Florida saw Bermuda, Canada and the USA all record big wins, leaving them all tied on four points each, with the USA topping the table on net run rate.

The USA played Argentina at Brian Piccolo Park. Argentina were set to be stronger opponents than Suriname yesterday, but with Lennox Cush back in the side, the USA were still favourites.

Argentina chose to bat after winning the toss, and it was again player-coach Hamish Barton who led the way with 74. But no other batsmen managed to go on after getting a start, and Argentina were restricted to 200/8 from their 50 overs.

The target was no problem for the hosts, who chased it down in 37.5 overs to win by seven wickets. Sushil Nadkarni continued his fine form, scoring an unbeaten 109 from 106 balls to add to yesterday's 197 against Suriname. Skipper Steve Massiah also chipped in with 43.

On the turf wicket over at Broward County Stadium, Bermuda inflicted another heavy defeat on Suriname. Bermuda batted first, and Christopher Douglas and Lionel Cann put on 103 for the first wicket, before Giovani Gokoel removed Douglas and Oronde Bascombe in three balls.

Cann was then joined by Stephen Outerbridge and they put on another 94, enabling Cann to reach his century (101) before he retired hurt with a hamstring injury. Oterbridge went onto score 62 and captain Irving Romaine made an unbeaten 50 as Bermuda scored 290/3.

Suriname crashed out for 66, with Delyone Borden taking 6/17 from his ten overs to lead Bermuda to a 224 run win. Munir Bhoelan and Mohamed Sardha were the only Suriname batsmen to reach double figures, both scoring 13.

On the Broward County Stadium's artificial wicket ground, Canada took on the Cayman Islands, electing to bat after winning the toss. When Asif Mullah fell for a first ball duck with the score on one, it was looking like the Caymans could be repeating their big upset of 2006.

But the Canadians were determined to avoid a repeat of that match, and Sandeep Jyoti (88), Zubin Surkari (62) and Qaiser Ali (61) led the way with Canada scoring 298/9 from their 50 overs.

The Cayman Islands were never in the hunt for their target and they collapsed for 92 as Canada recorded a 206 run win. Steve Gordon was their top scorer with 24, whilst Khurram Chohan and Zahid Hussain both took three wickets for Canada.

Tomorrow's matches see Argentina play fellow WCL Division Three team the Cayman Islands, Bermuda play the USA and Canada take on Suriname, who will be looking to put in a performance good enough to lose the tournament whipping boys tag.
