After yesterday's excitement over China's disappointing international debut, it was business as usual in Chiang Mai today, with the Maldives and Bhutan beating Iran and Brunei respectively.

Brunei batted first in their match against Bhutan, and an innings of 90 from Sinnathurai Induraj led them to a respectable total of 204/9 from their 50 overs. Lobzang Yonten and Thandin Wangchuk both took three wickets for Bhutan.

The total was a simple chase for Bhutan, and they won by seven wickets, knocking off the runs with eight overs to spare. The win is only their second in international cricket, their first coming against Myanmar in the 2006 ACC Trophy.

After their mauling of China yesterday, Iran came crashing back down to earth by having a thrashing of their own handed to them by the Maldives. Iran were bowled out for 79 in 35 overs, with Mahafooz Mohamed taking four wickets for just six runs.

The Maldives then knocked off the required runs in 16 overs, winning by eight wickets. It doesn't bode well for China's match against them on Saturday.

Tomorrow's matches will see hosts Thailand take on China and favourites Oman play Myanmar. Two more big wins are expected.
