On day five of the ACC Trophy Challenge in Chiang Mai, hosts Thailand and favourites Oman continued their seemingly unstoppable march towards a meeting in Wednesday's final with wins in their final group games today.

Thailand played Iran at the Gymkhana ground, and were put into bat by their opponents. Iran gave away plenty of extras, but the innings was built around the innings of captain Zeeshan Khan (63) and Anil Tanwani (54) - the pair put on 77 for the fourth wicket.

The lower middle order scored some quick runs to boost Thailand's total to 230 before they were bowled out five deliveries short of their full quota. Iran were bowled out for 133, with Ashish Dey and Shyam Sideek taking three wickets each.

The winning margin of 97 runs would have been even higher had it not been for Iranian captain Nariman Bakhitar, who scored 40 in the middle order.

At the Premier Oval, Oman played Brunei, who batted first and struggled to 131 in 41.5 overs, Jahaber Kiyasudeen top scoring with 42. Oman lost Maqsood Hussain for a golden duck with five runs on the board but Adnan Ilyas (89) and Vaibhav Wategaonkar (34) easily knocked off the required runs inside 15 overs with no further wickets being lost, leading their team to a nine wicket win.

Oman and Thailand, as winners of their groups, will be kept apart in Monday's semi-finals, where they are set to play the Maldives and Bhutan, barring the unlikely event of those two being upset by China and Myanmar respectively in tomorrow's final group games.
