The group stage of the ACC Trophy Challenge came to an end today with the Maldives playing China and Bhutan playing Myanmar.

At the Chiang Mai Gymkhana ground, Myanmar batted first and Dampo took 6/17 as Myanmar were bowled out for 64. Extras was the top scorer with 22 and Kyaw Ze Ya was the only batsman to reach double figures. Bhutan eased to their target inside ten overs to win by eight wickets.

In the other match at the Premier Oval, China again struggled, going down to a second 300 plus run defeat. The Maldives won the toss and chose to bat, reaching 376/7 from their 50 overs. Afzal Faiz was their top scorer with 93, whilst Li Jian was the pick of the Chinese bowlers with 3/57.

Despite a couple of brief cameos from Li Jian (13) and Wang Ronggang (21), China were dismissed easily by the Maldives, Ismail Nihad taking 6/10 as China were bowled out for 61, losing by 315 runs.

Tomorrow is a rest day, and the tournament will resume with the semi-finals on Monday when Oman will play the Maldives and Bhutan playing Thailand.
