In the lead-up to Bermuda's final practice match in St.Vincent yesterday, senior squad member Lionel Cann strongly urged his team's batsmen to "step up" to the plate and put big numbers on the board.

His words apparently had the desired effect as Bermuda's top order fired on all cylinders to power the tourists to an emphatic 100-run win over a St.Vincent and Grenadines President's XI at Arnos Vale.

Leading the run bonanza were Fiqre Crockwell, Chris Douglas and the irrepressible Stephen Outerbridge who each hit half-centuries in the team's impressive total of 272 for three in their allotted 50 overs after electing to bat – their highest total to date on their Caribbean tour.

Off-spinner Delyone Borden then collected four for 21 off ten overs with three maidens and pacer George O'Brien jr took two for 38 to restrict the home side to 172 in 41 overs to boost Bermuda's overall record to 6-2 in the matches they have played since arriving in the West Indies last month.

Bermuda could not have asked for a better start to their innings against a wayward St. Vincent attack that gave up 29 extras as openers Crockwell and Douglas took the shine off the new ball in a massive 141-run partnership.

Crockwell stroked a team-high 91 before falling nine runs shy of a maiden century at this level while Douglas added 64.

St. Vincent made the long-awaited breakthrough when seamer McNeil Morgan removed Douglas. However, the home team's joy was shortlived as Crockwell and Outerbridge, who stroked 68, added another 108 runs for the second wicket to keep Bermuda on course for a formidable total.

Morgan was the pick of the St.Vincent bowling with figures of two for 62 off ten followed by Jumo Toney who had one for 59.

Asked to score at just over five runs an over in reply, St.Vincent lost their first two wickets with only one run on the board as O'Brien made early inroads with the new ball and never really recovered as wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals throught their innings.

But at 59 for eight, St. Vincent's tail wagged to delay the inevitable with lower order bats Roland Wright (61) and Marvin Small (45 not out) leading the resistance with a battling 111-run ninth-wicket partnership, before Borden and fellow spinner Rodney Trott (one for 20) moved in for the kill.

Bermuda depart for Grenada tomorrow where they will play their final three World Cup qualifying practice matches before returning home at the end of the month.
