Marylebone Cricket Club set off on tour on Sunday 2nd August when a squad of 13 flew to the island of Vis, off Croatia, to begin a whistle-stop tour.

We hear from the MCC's scorer in Croatia, Oliver Coddington, who sends his match report:

Well let me start by saying that ending my previous message with the word "sunny" was a big mistake! The 2nd match, a Twenty20 game against the Croatian President`s XI was played (at least for the first innings) in rain! Bearing in mind it hadn`t rained for nearly 6 weeks here we were a tad unlucky!

The MCC batted first, and with a quick fire 50 from opener Marcus Marvell the Club was off to a good start. Batting number 2 seemed to be jinxed (after Bicknell`s 2nd ball duck on Monday we had a 4th ball duck by Tom Hicks there for this match!)

But the real star of the innings was (the now rattled, following my mention of his performance on Monday) Rob Turner who smashed a stunning 179, his 100 coming off only 45 balls, and in total he hit 16 4s and 17 6s!

The Croatians never looked likely to get close to such a high target, having to chase down 265 to win. A 17 ball 50 from David Lambasa (batting at 5) came a bit too late to help them, and they finished their 20 overs on 147 fro 5. Meaning the MCC won the match by the comfortable margin of 127 runs.

Today we had a game against the national side, who batted first. Their openers, went cheaply, and the team were 10 for 2 after only 4 overs. However Craig Wear batting at 3 scored a well paced 61, getting out to a sharp stumping by Turner. Beyond that the team seemed to struggle to build any large partnerships and finished their innings on 187 for 9. Pick of the MCC bowling has to be David Dunn with figures of 3 for 23 off 8 overs, with Michael Strong (2 for 29) and Darren Bicknell (2 for 38) also being effective with the ball.

Bicknell and Hicks opened the batting for the MCC (both at this point on pairs!), thankfully both managed to avoid that fate, however Darren sadly got a ball popping up nastily off the pitch hitting the end of his thumb, meaning he had to retire on 1. Tom Hicks however hit a solid 84, and carried his bat through the innings. He was ably assisted later in the innings by Jon Evans who scored 60, before falling 2 overs short of the MCC reaching their target, which they did in 27.5 overs, with the loss of 4 wickets, meaning the MCC won the match by 6 wickets.

There is now one final game left tomorrow, before the 7am ferry looms large on Friday morning!
