Simon Tolbot has during the first eight months as national coach gained a much better knowledge of the national side as he works towards the next World Cup task in about a years time. Simon has taken over the responsibility of all of Denmark's national squads starting from the under 13's up to the senior squad. He has taken over where Peter Paller Klokker has left off after Denmark was relegated to the World Cricket league division 3. "These eight months, in which I have been involved in Denmark, really feels much longer. I feel that we are now are beginning to show improvement and we stand as a proper national side both as a team and as for the singular players" Simon pronounced. "In Denmark's latest squad seven players from last year's World Cup has disappeared. In the new squad several young players have now arrived like Hamid Shah, Ihyas Saumy, Basit Raja and if you add the young players from the South African team Yasir Iqbal, Jacob Larsen, Omar Hayat and Rizwan Mahmood we now have a young base to develope together with the remaining experienced players like Carsten Pedersen, Michael Pedersen, David Borchersen og Henrik Saxe. The squad has also been strengthened with the arrival of Daniel Neilson who came to Denmark last year from New Zealand as the son of former Danish national player Troels Nielsen. His bowling for the Danish club KB has shown that he will be a plus for the Danish side. The squad also sees the return of Zishan Shah."

"During the coming winter we will continue the physical work where the former Surrey and Wessex Academy physiotherapist Tina Tolbot will be afilliated. We have already via our fitness program seen improvement on this front for the squad. We are already in the cyclus for our preparations for the coming European championship which will be played from the 13th to 19 July in Jersey, but the most important part of our work and our aim is an unconditional quick return to the World Cricket League division two and thereafter to continue towards the Intercontinental cup and the World Cup Twenty20 competitions."

Is it realistic to believe in a quick return to the top 15 to 20? Simon Tolbert answered, " Well, the road is of course a long one and it certainly won't be any easy one, but we are in reality on the way to make this tall order realistic, and I have worked with every single player in the squad in order to create a performance increase of 25% in all aspects of their game." " If we continue to make this progress I can't see any reason for that these goals cannot be reached and sustained within the coming months and years. We we have of course and need for all the help we can get and which has to be there in able to get Danish cricket back on the tracks and stay there", concluded Simon Talbot.
