If Kenya thought their six-wicket victory on Tuesday was sufficient to set them up for another ODI win over the Netherlands at Nairobi Gymkhana today, they were much mistaken.

Despite bowling the Netherlands out for 200 - twenty short of their Tuesday total - Kenya lost opener David Obuya off the third ball of their innings and it was all downhill from there on.

They were all out for 120 in a mere 32 overs, the Netherlands' Mudassar Bukhari taking three wickets for 17, Mark Jonkman three for 24 and captain Peter Borren a useful two for 10.

For Kenya, Jimmy Kamande struck 42 and Collins Obuya 21, but that was more or less the extent of the efforts of a team whose tail began at number seven, and which had not been exposed in the previous game.

The Dutch had looked comfortable in the early part of their innings, and had moved to just three down for 111 when Bas Zuiderent reached a well-struck 50. He went on to make 56, with six fours and a six; and Tim Gruijters, who made 29, hit two sixes in succession off left-arm spinner Shem Obado. Wicketkeeper Atse Buurman was not out on 30 when the innings closed on 200 in the 49th over.

Main wicket-takers among the Kenyan bowlers were left-arm spinner Hiren Varaiya, with four for 33, and paceman Nehemiah Odhiambo, with three for 35.

Now both sides will be focussing their concentration on the four-day Intercontinental Cup match which starts on Saturday. In the world of sub-prime cricket both sides have points to prove.
