The rain affected match played at Husum brought back reminisces of a story told by the late journalist Mr Slans who claimed to have hit the longest six on record at the ground in Aalborg in North Jutland. The main railway line south runs right by the ground, so a massive pull shot from Mr Slans landed in a passing goods train which ended up in Hamburg. In Husum the story was improved, as Husum's Gerrit Müller hit a massive six way over the boundary down into a railway cutting where the ball was supposed to have hit an open container on it's way to Hong Kong! Whether that is true or not I'll leave to the readers imagination but to hit the railway meant that it was a massive hit.
That was perhaps the only remarkable thing to have happened in the match between Husum and Svanholm. Husum batted first and Gerrit Müller hit a quick-fire 56 off 50 balls but nobody else made any inroads as Husum were all out for 128 with Zishan Shah taking 5 for 26. Svanholm were 62 without loss after 12 overs when the rain came. Svanholm therefore won the match on a better scoring rate. On a side note as all the team in the two divisions are now using the same scoring system on a computer, it is rumoured that from next season Duckworth-Lewis will be introduced, as the system is built in the scoring program.
All the matches in the first division were managed to be played, although conditions were not favorable. In the Copenhagen area the rain was not expected until the early afternoon so the match between Hvidovre and Kolding was reduced beforehand to 35 overs. Kolding restricted Hvidovre to 135 and that was due to Martin Pedersen whose bowling is unplayable to a lot of first division players. No wonder Martin was playing for Denmark B last weekend. Kolding however found it hard batting losing wickets regularly leaving it to the last pair to get the final runs. Kolding were pushed to score 3 off the last ball. Luckily Hvidovre's keeper missed a run out chance and Kolding managed to scramble an extra single to tie the match. Martin's brother Minik top-scored with 44. Hvidovre got their first point in the division and Kolding were happy to go home after being undefeated in their "Copenhagen weekend"
In Aalborg there was drama too, although of a different kind as the home-side faced the division leaders Ishoj. Ishoj's bowling was too much as Alborg were skittled for a measly 43 from 21 overs. Ishoj were 6 for no wicket when it started to drizzle. Rain stopped play but later on the umpires felt conditions had improved enough to play. However Aalborg were not interested in going out, probably hoping for a replay but they got convinced by the umpires to resume. Ishoj only needed five overs to win, so no one got wet.
KB's second team made sure they stayed bottom of the division as they could in the damp conditions only manage to score 68 all out against Koge. Koge's Qazizada hit a quick-fire 43 not out as Koge won only losing two wickets.
