After Saturday's defeat Glostrup travelled down to Northern Germany to face Husum at their lovely ground at Mikkelberg. This time Glostrup made no doubt about the result. They took their time to score 168 all out, using 47 overs, but they made sure of bowling Husum out for 43 runs less. Martin Jensen who himself is a slow scorer, topscored with 37 for Glostrup while Hauke Muller scored 45 out of Husum's 125 and Glostrup's David Borchersen took 4 for 20. The match was curious for a completely different reason. The presiding umpires also adjudicated Saturday's game with Glostrup and of the 37 wickets that fell in both matches 13 were given out lbw. This is claimed to be a new Danish record when taking into account that lbws are rarer on the artificial pitches. As no records are kept on this matter it will just remain a claim.
While Glostrup were winning in Husum competitors Svanholm were taking care of KB. KB have had a mixed season with a unexpected victory over Glostrup but also several loses. With a win over Svanholm KB were in with a chance of capturing a medal but Sunday's performance fell far short with poor fielding and also a poor decision of fielding first on a very wet outfield. Svanholm’s opening 202 owes itself to an innings from Ali Ahmed who was a former member of KB. He dominated proceedings with 78 scored from 142 balls. On a dry day he would have made a century as many of his timed drives just slowed up. In reply KB were well placed at 78 for 3 but the introduction of spin with Bret Mulder induced the KB batsmen to hit the ball straight into the hands of Svanholm's fieldsmen and KB were all out for 117.
While KB and Svanholm were playing on Svanholm's ground no. 1 AB and Norrebro were playing each other on ground no. 2. Copenhagen was Saturday evening swamped by enormous rainfalls causing severe flooding in many streets. AB's ground was completely unplayable and Norrebros ground was simply under water, so both teams had to be content with Svanholm’s smaller ground. AB with Naveed Mougal's 57 were all out for 206 and this was sufficient enough for victory as Norrebro's batting collapsed and were out for 99.
Sunday's matches left the Elitedivision with joint leaders Herning and Svanholm while Glostrup are two points behind. Next week sees the first meeting between Svanholm and Glostrup so Glostrup are still with a chance of winning the Championship as they still have to play Svanholm a second time and face Herning in the final match. Norrebro's defeat to AB means that they have to share bottom spot with Husum. Both teams have tough assignments coming up. Norrebro have Herning to play next week. Husum have a break with only two matches left against Herning and Esbjerg.
In the 1st. division Skanderborg played their second match of the weekend against KB's second eleven. This match also had to be moved as KB's ground is unusable until further notice with a burst drainpipe. KB's ground is shared with FC Copenhagen's footballers and they have no sympathy whatsoever for cricketers. The ground has been constantly watered to suit the footballers sore feet making cricket virtually impossible for Denmark's oldest club. The ground situation in Copenhagen is constantly a problem with more teams than grounds. In a reduced match Skanderborg won easily by seven wickets over KB II who were bowled out for 122. The two victories kept Skanderborg in with a chance for promotion but then they will have to beat second place Kolding in next week's cliff-hanger meeting
