Batting in Denmark is going like the stock market and that is down. In perfect conditions on an artificial wicket two of the top teams in the Elitedivision, Svanholm and Glostrup met and could together only score 102 runs off the bat making it 126 in all for all 20 wickets. Glostrup continued their bad run of losing matches by only making 56 in reply to Svanholm's measly 70. It was Glostrup's Aftab Ahmed who destroyed Svanholm's top order by taking 3 for 16 while spinner Rasmus Nielsen helped himself to 3 for 12 as the middle order failed to deliver. In reply Glostrup were 35 for 2 until Svanholm's Australian player/coach Brett Mulder came on and took four quick wickets. At the other end leg-spinner Bobby Chawla did his bit with 2 wickets and Glostrup were struggling at 42 for 6. Opener Shezad Ahmed looked as if he could win the game but his new partner Glenn Larsen was injured but was refused a runner, so he couldn't run the singles. Shezad was forced to go for the big shots and was soon caught and then Glostrup's tail collapsed.

Esbjerg who are struggling at the bottom of the table, were in Copenhagen to play Norrebro. As Norrebro's ground was still under water the game was played at Svanholm Park. Norrebro were soon in trouble batting first with 5 down for 78 but veteran Aftab Ahmed (42) and Rashid Ali added 71 as Norrebro ended on 177 for 9. Esbjerg got off to a disastrous start as pinch-hitter Claus Hansen was out first ball. Esbjerg never recovered from this despite a fighting innings from captain Peer Jensen who carried his bat hitting 35 off 100 balls. Esbjerg were bowled out for 106 and will now face Husum next Sunday in a do or die match. Aftab continued his good day by adding 3 for 16 to his name.

The batting situation didn't improve on the Sunday either. KB who for a change had the use of their own ground were playing AB who open the accounts by scoring 148 thanks to some hefty hitting from Naved Mugal with 62. KB who last week only made 51 against Herning were struggling from the start and AB's off spinner Omar Hyatt held them in a scissors taking 5 for 19 as KB fell far short with 91. AB's victory made sure they are out of the relegation battle while KB lost their chance of catching Glostrup for the bronze.

Herning made sure of staying top with Svanholm by winning easily over bottom club Husum. Husum were going pretty well at 74 for 2 as Gerrit and Hauke Muller were running the show but Hauke gave a return catch to Michael Pedersen who caught it at the second attempt and this prompted a Husum collapse. Finn Kleisl added valuable runs as wickets fell but Husum were all out for 122. Husum's bowling is renowned for it's weakness and today was no exception as Herning opening pair plundered the runs despite being dropped in the slips. No Husum bowler was able to get a breakthrough until it was too late. Troels Thøgersen while the scores were level was trapped lbw while trying to end the match with a boundary.

With one weekend to go Herning and Svanholm are neck and neck at the top and if both win or lose then a reply match will be staged the weekend after. Glostrup are pretty certain of getting bronze while Esbjerg and Husum will be fighting to avoid bottom spot. However Norrebro, if they lose on Sunday could join in as all three sides could end on equal points. Then it is the results of the mutual games that count before any use of the net run rate. So an exciting weekend is in prospect and a difficult one for the DCF as they don't know which ground to take the medals to. Herning have a tough assignment in Glostrup while Svanholm take on AB.

The weekend results also meant that the first division promotion race is more open than before. Skanderborg were in Copenhagen Saturday and Sunday. They first met rivals Albertslund in a match that was earlier postponed because of rain. Skanderborg resticted the normally aggressive Albertslund batsmen to 144 but found the going tough in replay. Denmark's Rizwan Mahmood played however a responsible innings of 66 and made sure of Skanderborg's victory. The day after Skanderborg met leaders Ishoj where conditions didn't favour technical batting with long, wet and slow grass. Skanderborg took their time and score most of their 128 in 50 overs in singles. It didn't seem much but Ishoj's batsmen didn't have the same patience as Skanderborg and they chose the aerial route. This had the slight disadvantage of giving catches and Skanderborg took them. Only Adnan Elahi stood his ground and played sensibly as he was last man out as Ishoj only managed 101 in reply.

Second in the table Kolding kept their challenge afloat by easily beating Koge at home. Koge could only muster 70 which Kolding passed losing only one wicket. Kolding's and Skanderborg's victory means they will meet in a postponed match on Sunday to decide who will end in second place and earn a play-off match against second-last in the Elitedivision. Ishoj however are not home and dry yet as they could lose their final match against Albertslund and then it gets complicated as Kolding have a game in hand against KBII who are relegated.
