Coaching

The Board, together with the local authority and the Coaches Association, provides a wide range of coaching activities in order to provide cricket activities for as many players as possible. The structure provides suitable cricket coaching for all ages and abilities. All coaching is carried out by suitably qualified and insured personnel.

Community Cricket - in conjunction with the local authority, courses are run for children from Years 3 to 8 in the school holidays and in the Spring Term. The ‘Coaching in Schools’ programme reaches all Primary and Secondary Schools and is followed up by assisting with the Schools’ cricket fixtures programme. A two week Summer School takes place in the summer holidays as does an Inter Cricket programme. Talented players identified in these activities are invited to join age group squads in the …

Development of Excellence Scheme - which provides coaching for age group squads from Under 10’s to Under 15’s. These groups (max. 18 players) attend 12 x 90 minute sessions in the Spring Term. The Under 16’s to 18’s attend 12 x 120 minute sessions. These sessions are at Langford during the Spring Term at weekends.

Academy - which provides more intensive small group coaching. They attend a minimum of 10 x 60 minute sessions run by minimum Level 2 coaches and concentrate on batting and bowling techniques assisted by bowling machines and video analysis where appropriate.

1 to 1 Academy - this provides the leading batters from each squad with a personal coaching programme. A minimum of 6 x 45 minute sessions concentrate solely on batting techniques, plans and psychology. Bowling machines and video analysis are used extensively in this scheme which requires significant commitment from the players. These sessions are run by experienced Advanced or Level 3 coaches.

Christmas and Spring Term Coaching - Coaching Cricket Coaching Courses for children from Years 3 to 8 are from December 27 to December 29.
