The numbers of umpires here in Gibraltar received a boost earlier this year when Bob Lomax undertook his tutor's course with ICC Europe at Lord's. This means Bob can now carry out 'Introductory' courses and, once mentored by an existing tutor, we will be looking to run these courses and the more intensive 'Level One.'

With the emphasis in T20 games now being placed on teams providing neutral umpires, the first 'Intro' course was held in May and those who attended were briefed on all the Laws and technicalities they will need to successfully stand in the season.

Gibraltar Cricket recognises that without umpires and scorers we would not be able to function. Whilst we will obviously look to develop both numbers and standards, we will also encourage those who wish to gain greater experience by putting forward candidates to stand in European and World Cricket League events.
